On Wednesday 12 June 2024, industry and government representatives from across Victoria’s critical infrastructure sectors came together to network, share ideas and discuss common challenges at the All Sectors Resilience Network Forum.
Hosted by Emergency Management Victoria (EMV), the forum is held annually for critical infrastructure stakeholders. The theme of this year’s forum was Resilience in Times of Crisis: Safeguarding our Essential Services.
Emergency Management Commissioner Rick Nugent provided the opening address, discussing how in times of crisis our resilience is tested, and reinforced the importance of working together across industry, critical infrastructure sectors and government to support communities’ resilience during emergencies.
"Resilience in times of crisis is not just about surviving, it is about thriving in a challenging environment. Resilience cannot be achieved in isolation," Commissioner Nugent said.
The forum showcased a range of dynamic speakers and topics focused on critical infrastructure protection and resilience, with key presentations provided by CSIRO, ASIO, panel members from the Network Outage Review Panel, and The Behavioural Architects presenting on misinformation in emergencies.
Critical infrastructure supports our most basic needs, including safe drinking water, food, energy, reliable transport and access to health, communications, banking and government services. Building the resilience of critical infrastructure is essential to reduce disruption of services to the community during emergencies.
